Dear Friends:
On Sunday, June 12, 2011, the Litchfield Green will once again come alive with the 35th annual running of the Litchfield Hills Road Race (LHRR). Since its inception in 1977, the Race has become a proud, local tradition, as well as a nationally renowned event.
We are asking you to consider joining LHRR's 2011 exciting festivities by becoming a Friend of the Race. Contributions from our Friends benefit young runners and provide healthful activities in track and field for the youth in our community. Friends’ gifts also help sponsor scholarships for students of Litchfield High School, Wamogo High School and the Forman School each year and enable us to donate to our local police, medical and civic organizations. Last year alone, the Litchfield Hills Road Race presented 7 scholarships and nearly $14,000 to support these community organizations and activities.
For a minimum donation of $75, Friends of the Race will receive a complimentary number for the race, an official LHRR T-shirt and your name listed in a special section of the program.

VOLUNTEER INFO
Have you always wanted to be a part of the race, but not really a runner? Then volunteer! The LHRR is always in search of a few good people. And speaking of good people, we have some of the best volunteers anywhere!
Take a look at the pictures of our volunteers – boy, are they having fun! Without our Barricade Brigade, Water People and Race Marshals, there wouldn’t be a race! The Barricade Brigade consists of a great bunch of people who donate their time for the entire weekend. Saturday before the race, these folks meet to load up trucks and trailers with the barricades, which are then set up on Sunday at various places throughout the race course. Of course, after the race, all the barricades have to be loaded back up on the trucks and trailers and stored away for next year. Whew!
Race staff also contribute greatly to the success of the race. Marshals are scattered throughout the course, watching for spectators crossing the street, keeping an eye on runners and reporting any concerns to our medical crew and of course making sure that everyone is headed in the right direction!

We can answer your questions and, on the second Sunday in June, you may find yourself at the heart of the action, wearing one of our Official Marshal T-shirts, a memento for you to keep forever!
The LHRR would also like to acknowledge the incredible medical personnel who work the race and our local area fire and departments. These folks donate their time to ensure the safety of all the runners and do one heck of a job.
