Have you always wanted to be a part of the race, but not really a runner? Then volunteer! The LHRR is always in search of a few good people. And speaking of good people, we have some of the best volunteers anywhere!
The Barricade Brigade consists of a great bunch of people who donate their time for the entire weekend. Saturday before the race, these folks meet to load up trucks and trailers with the barricades, which are then set up on Sunday at various places throughout the race course. Of course, after the race, all the barricades have to be loaded back up on the trucks and trailers and stored away for next year. Whew!
Marshals are scattered throughout the course, watching for spectators crossing the street, keeping an eye on runners and reporting any concerns to our medical crew and of course making sure that everyone is headed in the right direction!
We’ve had some hot and humid race days in the past and the Water Crew keep our runners hydrated and cool. These dedicated volunteers stand at the water stations throughout the course and hand out cups of water to the runners.
So if you think you may be interested in learning a little more about being a LHRR volunteer, please email us at info@lhrr.com.
We can answer your questions and, on the second Sunday in June, you may find yourself at the heart of the action, wearing one of our Official Marshal T-shirts, a memento for you to keep forever!
The LHRR would also like to acknowledge the incredible medical personnel who work the race and our local area fire departments. These folks donate their time to ensure the safety of all the runners and do one heck of a job.
